Keynote Speaker: Valerie Elliot Shepard
Valerie Elliot Shepard was born in 1955 in Ecuador as the only daughter to her missionary parents, Jim & Elisabeth Elliot. They were missionaries to the Quichua Indians in the Amazon. Jim and four other missionaries attempted to the reach the Waodani Indians when they were attacked and killed. Elisabeth and Valerie continued to live with the Quichuas afterwards. Miraculously, the Waodani tribe that had killed Jim, invited Elisabeth and Valerie to live with thier tribe. They accepted, and lived safely with them for two years while learning to speak their language. Once they did, they shared the story of Jesus for them. Many of them accepted Jesus and promised to kill no more.
Since her childhood, Valerie has married Walter (a pastor) with whom she raised eight children. Ever active in ministry, Valerie has been involved in teaching Bible studies, radio ministry, and written a book about her parents’ courtship called Devotedly. Valerie and her husband hasve served as a missionary to the Democratic Repbulic of Congo and planted a church, Christ Coastal Church, in Southport, North Carolina.

CHANGING LIVES
About Truett
Truett Conference Center & Camp has a rich heritage of providing revival, rest, and renewal since 1953. God has provided Truett with a prime location in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. With this property Truett has added over a dozen new activities and programmed events, making it one of the most exciting places for any person to be.
The heart of the camp has been, and remains, to share the Gospel with all that come on the property. We also equip the Body to better spread the Gospel. All campers have a powerful experience, and over 100 have come to faith in Jesus Christ over the last two years.
Truett Conference Center & Camp is owned and operated by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
