The Real Education Kids Seek!
About TREKS
Truett has over 90 acres of land that serves as our classroom, and the Truett staff are highly trained to lead hands on experiments in nature to give further enrichment. The students will leave Truett with a better understanding of the Essential Standards and a fun, unique experience they won’t forget.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
TREKS is a field trip like no other, it takes the NC Essential Standards for science and delivers them in a fun and exciting setting that can’t be experienced inside a classroom.
DAY TRIPS
A day trip will allow you 2-3 classes, lunch, and some recreation. This is a great choice that allows schools to fit their Truett experience into the time-frame of a normal school day. You’ll be surprised how often the kids talk about their trip and how frequently teachers refer back to lessons their students learned.
OVERNIGHT TRIPS
Want to make the trip even more memorable and do more than 2-3 classes? Our overnight trips are the best option for you! They’ll come away closer friends, with lifelong memories, and with more knowledge and wisdom than before. Our bunkhouses feature private bathrooms, HVAC, and thick inner-spring mattresses. This is a fantastic way to review material before end of year standardized testing.

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”
John Muir
Class Subjects Include:
Weather, Team-building, Water Ecology,
Food Chain, and more!

Location
Truett is conveniently located outside Hayesville, NC, surrounded by the beautiful Nantahala National Forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains. With a pond, streams, hardwood forest, ridge, and open area, our property allows for a wide range of exploration and appreciation. TREKS is available in October, March, & April, Tuesdays through Fridays.
We Serve Christian Schools Too!
Christian schools will feel at home on our property, a ministry of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. You can receive the same great education our other groups do, but with an emphasis on what we can learn about our Heavenly Father through His Creation.

Benefits the Teacher
Teachers will have fun, have their own lessons reinforced, and get to know their students much better. The lessons learned at Truett can be called back upon all year round or be a great review/capstone for the school year.

Helps the Students
Students will learn more from taking an active role in their own education. They will grow closer as a group. Truett will happily facilitate team-building activities.

Supports the School
Schools will be thrilled at the value of this great trip that satisfies state curriculum while improving their students’ attitudes, test scores, and appreciation for nature.
