IT’S TIME TO SET THE STANDARD

Creating safe and secure environments for our ministries is a crucial responsibility that is of the highest importance. This conference is open to anyone who wants to know more about preventing sexual abuse, recognizing the grooming process, creating and enforcing policies, and much more. All ministry and organizational leaders, staff and members will benefit from the information presented.

This training will be offered at multiple locations across the state throughout the year. Cost is $10 per person and includes either lunch or dinner. Each location will offer two training times: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4-7:30 p.m. to allow as many people possible to attend based on their schedules. Join us at the training nearest to you!

Meet The Speakers

Cheryl Markland

Senior Consultant, Childhood Evangelism & Discipleship


Cheryl has served as the state convention’s senior consultant for childhood ministries since October 2012. Previously, she served 17 years as a children’s minister at Eastern Hills Baptist in Charlotte and First Baptist Church in Matthews.

Merrie Johnson

Senior Consultant, Youth Evangelism & Discipleship


Merrie Allen Johnson has been in youth ministry for 32 years and joined the BSCNC staff in 2001. Some of her duties include the eight weeks of Caswell Youth Camps, continuing education retreats for youth ministers and youth workers, and fall retreats at Caswell. She also leads youth worker training events across North Carolina.  

Tom Beam

Student Mission Mobilization Consultant, N.C. Baptists on Mission


Tom has served with N.C. Baptists on Mission since 1999. He began serving as director of Camp Caraway for Boys and consultant for children/Royal Ambassadors. Tom now works as a consultant for student missions mobilization, which includes running the Deep Impact Youth Missions program

Dollie Noa

Children/Family Missions Mobilization Senior Consultant,
N.C. Baptists on Mission


Dollie joined the Baptists on Mission staff in October 2017 as senior consultant for children and family missions mobilization. Previously, she served for seven years as director of education and children at Alexis Baptist Church and for 10 years as minister of youth and children at First Baptist Church of Spring Lake.
